Equipped with a 5.4L V-12 engine and an automatic transmission, this 2001 BMW 750iL is uniquely fitted with bulletproof windows. Rolling on the factory 5-split spoke alloy wheels, the car is presented in black with a matching bucket seat interior. Amenities include power windows, power locks, power seats, wood-grain interior trim and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS among other creature comforts. Two new batteries have been installed and the car presents in lovely overall condition. Known to enthusiasts as the BMW E38, the third-generation 7-Series entered production in 1994 for the 1995 model year and would be the second generation to offer a V-12 engine.
BMW was never a company to shy away from technology and engineering, and the E38 was an absolute technical knockout as the first production car to use side curtain airbags, the first European car to offer satellite navigation and the first BMW to offer a built-in TV set. It was also the first 7-Series to be offered with a diesel engine, outside of the United States, and it was the last 7-Series available with a manual transmission. To many, the E38 remains the best 7-Series ever built, delicately but successfully balancing luxurious accommodations in a sizable package yet competently delivering an athletic driving experience.
On July 27, 2001, the final E38 rolled off the assembly line with some 340,242 produced.
