Introduced for 2010, the Bentley Mulsanne debuted as the replacement for the long-running Arnage and featured an entirely new Bentley-exclusive chassis design. Approximately 7 inches long¬er than the Arnage and delivering greatly enhanced passenger comfort, the Mulsanne is Bentley’s flagship sedan with a 6,036-pound curb weight. Ample power—505 HP in fact—is delivered by Bentley’s new-generation 6.75L V-8 engine, equipped with twin Mitsubishi turbochargers delivering 16 PSI of peak boost and paired to a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. Amazing torque delivery is factory-rated at 752 lb-ft at just 1,750 RPM.
Predictably, despite its immense luxury and considerable weight, the Mulsanne is capable of propelling its lucky occupants in serene luxury at up to a supercar-worthy 187 MPH flat out. According to a Car and Driver road-test report, the Mulsanne can also tear through a quarter mile in just 13.4 seconds at 105 MPH, accelerate from rest to 60 MPH in just 4.9 seconds and from zero to 100 MPH in 12 seconds flat. Other attributes of this athletic Bentley are its near-50/50 weight distribution, 0.81 G roadholding, and 165-foot stopping distance from 70 MPH to rest.
Sold new with a $345,445 original MSRP, this 2012 Bentley Mulsanne is of course powered by the high-torque, twin-turbocharged 6.75L/505 HP V-8 engine and automatic transmission.
