Introduced at the Paris Auto Show in October 2010, the second-generation Bentley Continental GT continued to attract new buyers to the venerated Bentley brand with its sporty yet refined exterior styling and industry-leading quality. Bentley answered the building demand for a lighter version of the GT with a new optional 4.0L twin-turbocharged V-8 engine rated at 500 HP and 487 lb-ft of torque. While marginally less powerful than the now-traditional W-12, the new V-8’s twin-turbo’s smaller vanes appreciably increased spool-up speeds, which in turn maintained incredible low-end torque and almost equalled the W-12’s overall performance at legal speeds.
The V-8 also shaved considerable weight from the Continental GT’s considerable heft, resulting in noticeably increased handling agility and braking response. In addition to decreased weight, the V-8 GT employed on-demand steering assistance, cylinder deactivation, improved engine heat dissipation, a new 8-speed automatic transmission and low-friction tire technology to improve overall fuel economy by 40% over the W-12. Regardless of engine choice, the 2013 Continental GT delivers opulence, craftsmanship and advanced technology.
