GMC Celebrates the Hummer H2’s Legacy with the 2027 Hummer EV Icon 25

GMC is marking the 25th anniversary of the legendary Hummer H2 with a special-edition 2027 Hummer EV Icon 25. Inspired by the bright yellow H2 that made its debut at the 2002 Los Angeles Auto Show, the new electric model pays tribute to its predecessor while embracing modern EV technology.
Available in both SUV and pickup body styles, the Icon 25 can be ordered with either the 2X or 3X trim. Its standout feature is the exclusive yellow "Icon" paint, echoing the original H2’s signature look. The exterior is complemented by a black front bumper shield, while the cabin features a Jet Black interior, a numbered dashboard plaque, and exclusive infotainment animations that celebrate the Hummer’s heritage.
Although the styling recalls the past, the performance is firmly rooted in the present. Depending on the version, the all-electric powertrain produces up to 1,000 horsepower, replacing the V8 engine that powered the original H2. Like its predecessor, the new Hummer EV still delivers an unmistakable road presence thanks to its massive proportions.
For the 2027 model year, every Hummer EV now comes standard with a Tesla-compatible NACS charging port, giving owners direct access to the extensive Supercharger network. The truck also supports bidirectional charging, allowing it to provide backup power for a home when paired with the appropriate GM Energy equipment. GMC has also expanded the color palette with Azurite Blue, Dark Ember, Dark Ridge, Deep Void Matte, and the exclusive Icon finish.
Production will begin later this year at GM’s Factory Zero in Michigan. While GMC has not officially confirmed production numbers, the serialized dashboard badge suggests the Icon 25 may be limited to just 250 units. Pricing will be announced closer to its dealership launch. Is the Hummer EV Icon 25 the perfect way to honor the iconic H2, or should GMC have recreated more of the original’s character?
