Ford GT at Dubai Autodrome — Beautiful, but Not Quite a Track Car

I took a Ford GT out on track at Dubai Autodrome. The feeling? Let’s just say… mixed. First things first — the car is absolutely stunning. This is the kind of car you stop next to, walk around, and admire from every angle. The lines, the proportions, the details — it’s pure automotive art.
But on track, the romance fades a little. My impression is that the Ford GT isn’t really a car for attacking apexes or pushing hard lap after lap. It feels more like a hypercar made for beautiful drives, rather than a true track weapon. I’d happily take it along the Jumeirah coastline at sunset, cruising and enjoying the moment — that’s where it feels at home.
On the circuit, though, it doesn’t give you that confidence and connection you expect from a car with such a name and heritage. You don’t feel fully at one with it. Instead, it’s like wearing an incredibly elegant suit that looks amazing — but isn’t made for running.
In true Top Gear style: The Ford GT is a supermodel in a tuxedo. It looks incredible, but running a marathon in it isn’t the best idea.
The conclusion is simple: — as a design object — 10/10 — as a car for stylish drives — excellent — as a track car — not really my thing
A very interesting experience, but one I probably wouldn’t repeat on track.
