I’ve owned this 2017 Volkswagen Golf R since new, and it’s been a very easy car to live with. It’s the white 5-door hatchback version, so it still feels practical day to day, but it has a way of making even short drives feel a bit more special. The 2.0 petrol engine with 310 hp gives it plenty of strength without feeling tiring to use, and the all-wheel drive makes it feel planted and confident in a way I’ve always appreciated.
