Cadillac Series 62, 1956
Chassis No.: 5662120577 $57,200 | Sold • Odometer: 797 miles • Engine: V-8 • Transmission: Automatic • Exterior: Tahoe Blue/Alpine White • Interior: Blue/White • Body: Hardtop • Comprehensive restoration • 365/285 HP V-8 engine • 4-barrel carburetor • Hydra-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission • Tahoe Blue exterior with Alpine White roof • Blue and White cloth interior • Split-bench seat • Modern air conditioning installed with original look • 12-volt electrical system • Chrome bumpers and trim by Ogden Chrome • 129-inch wheelbase • Restoration receipts and photos For 1956, Cadillac would round out the fourth generation Series 61 with a sprinkling of updated trim elements and a new 365 CI V-8 engine. The all-new 1957 Cadillacs would retain the engine, but the body and interior would be extensively restyled and a new frame would be employed, creating the fifth generation. This 1956 Series 62 two-door hardtop underwent a comprehensive restoration, emerging in the breezy two-tone color combination of Tahoe Blue and Alpine White. Adorned with fender skirts, the extensive chrome trim, including the massive bumpers, were restored by Ogden Chrome. Passengers indulge in a two-tone blue and white interior that’s been fitted with a split-back bench seat and updated with a modern air conditioning system that looks original. The 365/285 HP V-8 engine is fed by a 4-barrel carburetor and joined with a Hydra-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. Complete with restoration receipts and photographs, the Cadillac rolls on wide whitewall tires topped by full-size Cadillac center-crest wheel covers. Especially during this era, Cadillac customers enjoyed a wide array of luxurious options and features, paint combinations and upholstery options. In fact, for 1956, buyers could choose up to five different fabrics—frost-patterned nylon, metallic nylon, wool gaberdine, broadcloth, or Bedford cord. Of course, they could also choose a full leather package, or use leather as a trim to complement a fabric for a very elegant look and feel. Because of its exceptional pricing, the Series 62 became the most popular model in the Cadillac family. This popularity made it one of the most aspirational models in Cadillac’s history, with people often agreeing that even more attractive than its pricing may well be its understated and simple elegance. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1151592/1956-cadillac-series-62/
