Some of the most interesting adventures start by accident. That’s exactly how I ended up with a LADA Niva in Dubai. I saw it for sale one day — and just couldn’t resist. So I bought it. Because, really, how can you not buy a Niva in Dubai? It’s pure nostalgia on wheels.

🚗 Why is it awesome? Because everyone from the post-Soviet world instantly reacts to it. People wave, take photos, record videos — it’s a total attention magnet on Dubai streets.

🔧 What about service? No worries. I take it to DEIZ, a Russian-run workshop here in Dubai. They know Ladas inside out — from basic service to full-blown tuning and engine swaps. So yes — servicing a Niva in the UAE is totally doable.

🌡️ Now the downside: It’s July in Dubai — insanely hot. And that’s when we hit a common issue: — The A/C stops working when revs go even slightly above idle.

🛠️ Our plan now: — Install a turbo kit, aiming to bump power from ~80 hp to at least 200–300 hp. — Upgrade the air conditioning system, so it can handle Dubai summers like a champ.

That’s all for now. Once the upgrades are done, I’ll share how the Niva performs on Dubai roads — but even now, I can say: this is one of the most fun and unexpected ownership experiences I’ve ever had.
