My name is Sultan, I live in Abu Dhabi, work in the oil sector. I often drive to Dubai and back — 300 km a day. Bought a Fortuner 4.0 V6 a year ago. Done 35,000 km. Sharing how the car performs on the highway and on long trips.

How noisy is the cabin on the highway at 120-140 km/h?

It's noisy. This is not a German car. At 120 km/h it's bearable, at 140 — wind and tire noise are noticeable. Conversations with passengers are fine, but music helps. Sound insulation is a weak point. If that's critical — better look at the Prado.

How stiff is the suspension in the city — does it bounce on speed bumps?

Quite stiff. The rear axle makes itself felt. On speed bumps and potholes, the car bounces. Rear passengers feel it. But you get used to it. Ride smoothness is not the Fortuner's main strength. It's a body-on-frame SUV, not a limousine.

How does the Fortuner behave at 140-160 km/h on the Dubai — Abu Dhabi highway?

Confidently. The V6 engine pulls well. Acceleration to 140 is easy. At 160 it's not straining. The car doesn't float, the steering is precise. Overtaking is effortless. But noisy, as I mentioned. Stability — excellent. No fear.

How tiring are long trips — to Ras Al Khaimah or Saudi Arabia?

Not tiring. The seat is comfortable, no back pain. After 4-5 hours behind the wheel, you feel fine. The suspension is stiff, but on the highway it's not that noticeable. Main issue — noise. If you turn on music, it's fine. Overall, the car is built for long roads.

How comfortable are long trips for rear passengers — do their legs get cramped?

Second row — fine. Enough space, legs don't hit. Adults sit comfortably. Third row — only for kids, adults feel cramped. For long trips, the third row is better folded.

Great for the highway. Confident, powerful, stable. Noisy and a bit stiff, but you get used to it. Long trips — not a problem.
