My Patrol Y61 proves otherwise. Yes, it looks like a true desert warrior, and that’s exactly why I adore it. In Dubai, it’s more than a car—it’s a ticket to anywhere, even the wildest places. While others are afraid of remote dunes, we simply enjoy heading out with friends for a barbecue in Liwa. Despite its age, the platform’s air conditioning blows ice-cold air even at the height of summer. Driving around town isn’t exactly easy, of course: the steering is heavy and the turning radius is wide. But on the highway, it glides like a ship, and its ease of repair and readily available parts are every owner’s dream. The insurance is laughably cheap—2,000 dirhams. Fuel… well, that’s its only weakness, but for its reliability and character, I’m willing to forgive its appetite. It’s not a car; it’s a loyal friend who’ll never let you down.
