Life here has become so much more fun with a convertible—you can drive with the top down pretty much all year round, and it’s especially wonderful in the evening. The air conditioning handles the heat easily, but I usually just roll down the windows and enjoy the breeze. The car is very responsive and fuel-efficient for its class—around 9 liters per 100 km in the city, which is fantastic for the UAE. Insurance cost 5,000 dirhams a year, which is quite reasonable. The downsides are that the trunk is tiny—even shopping bags barely fit—and you have to be careful in parking lots because of the long hood. But the pleasure of arriving at the JBR waterfront every day with the breeze in your hair is worth it!
