This Triumph was purchased by our collector in January 1966 as a used car. Looking for a fun English roadster to drive, he chose this TR4, one of the most iconic representatives of the model. With its design by Michelotti and its rugged architecture, this pretty convertible nevertheless demonstrated genuine sporting ability. The collection's TR4 was driven extensively until the late 1990s, first as a touring car, then, as time went on, to take part in classic car rallies. The car therefore spent more than half a century with its owner and is presented in used condition.
The engine compartment appears to be original, and the four-cylinder engine is equipped with two SU carburetors. The car was repainted red, as was customary at the time, but it seems that it was originally a lovely shade of blue. The bodywork will need to be completely restored. The odometer reads 24,050 km. It is truly moving to find a car that shared its owner's life, especially since most of these roadsters were sold in the USA and had very eventful histories. Having not been driven for several years, it represents an interesting restoration project with a rare French history.
