Chassis No.: FC87918

Engine No.: FC89796HE

Registration: PPJ 525E

The young Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti, was introduced to Standard Triumph by Captain Raymond Flowers; not only because of his ability to style, but to build prototype models also. Several projects were undertaken with the most significant being the prototype bomb that morphed into the Triumph Spitfire in 1962. The Triumph Spitfire 4 Mk. II had a little more power over the earlier, retrospectively named, Mk. I Spitfire sibling; a further, but modest, 4bhp according to factory records. There was also rather more refinement in the interior fittings. With a fully opening front end, servicing was a delight and today, these British sports cars are well catered for by several specialists throughout the UK.

This lovely example of this popular British classic sportscar is presented in light blue with a recently retrimmed black leather interior, including door cards rear cockpit trim and seats with white piping. The bumpers have been replaced with lightweight quarter size chrome bumpers having been bespoke made for the car at a cost of circa £3000 by the present owner and look superb. The car had a body rebuild in 2000 including a respray, new bonnet, sills, floors, door skins, rear wings, carpets and hood. In 2022 a new boot lid and American screen frame was fitted and in 2015 a fast road 1330 engine was fitted having been rebuilt and fitted with overdrive.

The carburettors were rebuilt, fast road suspension fitted, new stainless steel sports exhaust with tubular manifold and it has electronic ignition. Its lovely wire wheels were new in 2018 and still look very good indeed. This Spitfire has had a considerable amount of money spent on it over the years and the result is superb, providing the car with lively performance and a smart appearance. This has fun written all over it!
