The initial four generations of the Supra were produced from 1978 to 2002. The fifth generation has been produced since March 2019 and went on sale in May 2019. The styling of the original Supra was derived from the Toyota Celica, but it was both longer and wider, more of a GT offering. Starting in mid-1986, the A70 Supra became a separate model from the Celica. In turn, Toyota also stopped using the prefix Celica and named the car ‘Supra’.
This particular example can only be described as ‘time-warp’. The original owner kept this car for 38 years, ownership only changing hands to our vendor in 2024. Our vendor purchased this car for his father, who used to own an A70 Supra. However it has seen very little use, so the decision has been made to sell the car in the hope it will go to an enthusiast or collector who fully appreciates just how special this example is. The overall condition of the car is extremely impressive, the interior shows almost no wear and the paintwork is in great order too.
The owner’s manual and service book are present, there is not a huge number of services recorded, due to the lack of use, but a major service has been carried out during our vendor’s ownership with belts and fluids changed. This Supra was clearly used very occasionally by the original owner, probably only dry miles, and the engine bay is extremely clean, giving the impression it has probably never had a chance to accumulate much road dirt at all. Supplied to auction with a V5 registration document, MoT test certificate valid until August 2025 and a history file containing owner’s books and sundry invoices for works over the years.
