Restored from its long-wheelbase frame and pickup body out to correct Toyota decals, this 1986 FJ-45 Land Cruiser is among the last of its kind produced. The removable top and door-long wheelbase Land Cruiser pickup is rare for the U.S. market and waits for its next owner to experience its versatile combination of capability and durability that earned the Land Cruiser a spot in the globally recognized pantheon of all-terrain vehicles. The FJ-45, or “Troopy,” was manufactured in hardtop, wagon and pickup configurations before it was succeeded by the 70-series FJ-type in 1984.
The 4.2L Toyota F-series inline 6-cylinder was rated for 135 HP and 200 lb-ft of torque and is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission with high- and low-range transfer case. Manual Aisin front locking hubs engage 4×4 capability. The famously durable engine is finished to a high level of original detail from its genuine OEM Toyota radiator and wire hose clamps out to correct air cleaner, ignition coil and valve cover decals. Fasteners, mounts, power disc-brake booster and power-steering reservoir shimmer with zinc chromate for authentic underhood appearance. The white and black pickup body features a fold-down front windshield for multiple configurations.
The front bumper is equipped with tow hooks and rubber Toyota logo guards, and the coated bed is topped with a steel rear-window guard. Rear-corner windows and glass add visibility to the cab. New turn-signal and side-marker lenses and Land Cruiser badging lend the FJ-45 a showroom-fresh look. Vinyl bench seating and rubber carpet join underdash air conditioning and a Boss audio system for interior comfort and utility. The factory-issue aluminum transfer case instructional plate and reproduction decals turn back the clock for a classic FJ-45 experience.
