The first model produced by Tesla and a true milestone in the history of sports cars, the Tesla Roadster, introduced in 2005, can be considered the first electric sports car of the modern era. Its chassis, derived from the Lotus Elise, is remarkably effective. With maximum torque available from a standstill and no interruption from gear changes, it takes off like a dragster: in Sport trim, it reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.7 seconds!
