- The consignor acquired the car from the Shelby Family Museum in 2025
- Originally used by Manhasset Ford in New York as a demonstrator
- Sold to its first owner, Stuart Hyiam of New York in 1967
- After a few years of ownership, Hyiam took a potential buyer on a test drive and the “buyer” pulled a gun and stole the car
- The thief owned a wrecker firm that had acquired another 427 Cobra, CSX3041, which had been totaled out by an insurance company
- The thief ground out some of the car’s VIN stamps and tried to pass the car off as CSX3041
- Eventually the forgery was uncovered and in 1991 the vehicle was properly re-titled as CSX3242, “3242” was still stamped on all of the latches
- The car was previously owned in the 1980s by Ferrari F1 driver Didier Pironi, winner of the 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans
- Appeared at the 1997 SAAC Convention in Las Vegas
- Used as the model for the 427 Cobra in the hit video game “Forza Motorsport 4”
