The Supercinq is the second generation of the iconic Renault 5, launched in 1972. It will be produced until 1996, after having been the best-selling car in France between 1986 and 1989, ahead of its eternal rival, the Peugeot 205. Designed for a young clientele and thanks to its limited size, it gradually established itself, as its career progressed, as a car for urban customers. In the second half of the 1980s, Renault executives noticed that there was a bourgeois population within this urban population, which did not have a sufficiently luxurious everyday vehicle in which they would accept to be seen.

It is in this context that Renault presents the Supercinq Baccara in 1987, a luxury people’s car or a popular l uxurious car depending on the angle... Available with an automatic or manual gearbox, it was especially equipped with a Connolly leather upholstery and a complete equipment taken from the GTS, among which the power steering, electric windows, centralized locking, alloy wheels and ... a costume storage installed under the rear cover! It will be a real success, which will push Renault to propose a Baccara version for the R19, R21, R25 then the Clio before the disappearance of the name. Our Supercinq was bought in November 1988 from the Escobrie dealership in Melun.

Its black color, associated with the typical bronze Baccara pinstripe suits it perfectly, associated with a beige leather in a remarkable state, the seats being neither sagged nor torn. The meticulous first owner took particular care of her car and kept every document, every invoice, every technical control, in an important file. Moving to the Orne region, she very recently decided to part with her Supercinq, annoyed by the countless business cards with purchase proposals that she found under her windshield wipers! The car, with less than 103,000 km on the odometer, is in exceptional condition, showing a rigorous and continuous maintenance.

The bumpers have been repainted, the rear fender interiors relined, and the mechanics overhauled. It is absolutely incredible to find a car with such a follow-up, and such a history. Add to this the fact that Supercinqs in good condition are rare on the market - especially Baccara cars - and you will understand why this youngtimer is an opportunity not to be missed...
