The big RAM 2500 is a substantial vehicle from any angle. This one, with 1,122 miles showing on the odometer, is an even more impressive Mega Cab model with American Expedition Vehicles Prospector XL Conversion, making it a massive 249-inch long, 4-wheel drive mega truck. The AEV Prospector is a special off-road package that includes AEV’s stamped steel front bumper, here with the optional 16.5 winch, heavy-duty rear bumper and assorted upgrades to maximize the off-road capability. Meanwhile, the special extended RAM Mega Cab is 111 inches, coming with vastly increased storage space behind the rear seat. Since those are reclining rear seats, it’s perfect for long trips.
On this chassis, the Mega Cab design is mated to the 6-foot, 4-inch bed, and it is only offered for the 4×4 2500 and 3500-series RAM designs. Power comes from the big 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel inline 6-cylinder engine found under the hood, which is backed by an automatic transmission and 3.73:1 final differential ratio. Underneath is AEV’s special 3-inch DualSport RT suspension system, with this Ram also featuring HighMark fender flares, hill start assist and traction control. The bed features the optional AEV Bed Rack and Vertical Tire Mount, while the tubular front bar with quad AEV lights is above the functional winch.
The height change done by AEV allows for 40-inch tall tires, yet only raises the truck 3-inches, helping to provide over-the-road stability. The gorgeous green exterior paint with hood blackout is coupled to a premium Laramie-design black leather interior with a dark-glass power sunroof. Inside are ventilated and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control and a UConnect 12-inch touch screen mated to a Harman Kardon AM/FM stereo with SiriusXM radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. With park assist and remote start, the final touches are the 17×10 Kalta wheels wearing large Cooper Discoverer tires.
