A collector's car even before it went on sale, the Porsche 911 R was the marque's gift to driving enthusiasts: an ultimate 911 with extraordinary performance that could still be enjoyed on the road. From its launch, its value soared, and the few examples available on the market saw their prices rise considerably, reflecting the enthusiasm this model from the 991 generation inspired—and continues to inspire. This is only the second time in the model's history that the 911 has worn the R badge. The first, dating from 1967, served as the homologation basis for 911s entered in GT racing and rallies.
Its successor follows the same recipe, weighing 50 kg less than the GT3 and GT3 RS models from which it is derived. Delivered new to its current owner, who took possession of it directly at the Stuttgart factory through Porsche's customer service, the 911 R we are offering is presented in its traditional white livery, here accented with red stripes and Porsche lettering along the sides. Its sole owner, a great Porsche enthusiast, was immediately won over by the car's dynamic qualities. Conceived and intended as the ultimate 911 for driving pleasure, the R is much more than a GT3 fitted with a manual gearbox.
It is a clever blend of the GT3 RS's performance—thanks to its 4.0-litre, 500 hp engine—and the original 911's clean lines, free of any aerodynamic add-ons. Designed to be lightweight, with carbon-fibre wings and front bonnet, a magnesium roof and polycarbonate rear windows, the 911 R can reach over 320 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. A strict two-seater, its cockpit houses only two carbon-fibre bucket seats, but they are simply sublime, as they come from the 918 Spyder...
Having covered barely more than 7,600 km, our Porsche 911 R has remained in its original configuration, including its carbon-ceramic brakes, wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, and optional single-mass flywheel and lift system. In perfect cosmetic condition, it has also been regularly maintained, with all servicing carried out at Porsche Strasbourg since its registration. The car will also receive a service in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations before sale.
Rare, powerful and equipped with a sublime naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six coupled with a manual gearbox, this R is certainly one of the last road-going Porsches to offer this configuration, guaranteeing unrivalled driving pleasure.
