After the 1964 Pontiac GTO rocketed past predicted sales of 5,000 to a phenomenal year-end total of over 32,000 cars, Pontiac embraced the GTO concept wholeheartedly, producing all-new front and rear styling that included the stacked quad headlights found in the Division’s full-size lineup. They also coaxed more power out of the 389 CI engine in both 4-barrel and Tri Power tune, the latter reaching a healthy 360 horsepower.
This 1965 GTO convertible underwent a 3 year restoration from 2006-2009 and pairs beautiful Montero Red paint with optional Rally wheels and Redline tires, a Black power convertible top and boot and the GTO’s trademark bucket seat interior with center console, woodgrain dash trim and a woodgrain steering wheel. The well-detailed engine compartment houses Pontiac’s 389/360 HP Tri Power engine that featured three 2-barrel Rochester carburetors atop a special intake manifold and dual chromed twin-outlet exhaust. Optional extras include a floor-shifted Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission, power steering, in-dash tach and AM/FM radio.
