A preservation time capsule that almost defies belief, this 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix has an odometer reading of just 1,079 miles. This stunning 1976 Starlight Black Pontiac Grand Prix is a heavily optioned example with the 400 CI V-8 engine, automatic transmission, matching leather bucket seats with console, tilt steering column, interior wood accents, air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power brakes, remote side mirrors and AM/FM radio. From the esteemed Carolina Collection, the present owner’s immersion in the car business for 30 years has enabled him to find the most select examples of vehicles in pristine condition.
Such is the case with this 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix that remains in highly original condition, with the exception of a replacement battery. The paint meter readings confirm original paint application, and a host of supporting documentation including two original dealer invoices, original warranty, original maintenance records, build card, original Ziebart information and a dealership thank you letter that all appear to validate the mileage. The 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix was the fourth generation iteration, produced from model years 1974-77.
Based on the General Motors A-Body platform, which it shared with the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Buick Century Regal and Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, all of the variants were aimed at the midsize personal luxury car market of the era. The car incorporated many of the changes mandated by Federal Safety regulations, including the 5 MPH impact bumpers both front and rear, and fixed-side opera windows replacing the operable side rear windows for reasons of side impact safety. For model year 1976, the Pontiac Grand Prix received a new vertical bar “waterfall” grille, quad rectangular headlights and revised rear tail light lenses.
This car comes complete with the original owner’s manual and supplements.
