The 1975 model year proved to be the end of the line for all of GM’s B-body convertibles, and Pontiac’s top-of-the-line Grand Ville was the only convertible available from the Wide Track Division that year. To say that the Grand Ville was an imposing vehicle would be an understatement. Perched on a 127-inch wheelbase, the drop-top Pontiac checked in at a whopping 226 inches in overall length, with a shipping weight of 4,560 pounds. The base engine was a 185 HP 400 4-barrel V-8 with the High Energy Ignition system, with an optional 455 4-barrel available. Just 4,519 were built before the window closed forever.
This 1975 Grand Ville Convertible is a virtual time capsule in highly original, unrestored condition with just 91 miles on the odometer, which is believed to be correct. It’s a triple-black beauty with the 400 4-barrel and automatic transmission. It was sold new at Bill Morrow Pontiac in Milan, Michigan. Other features include power steering and power front disc brakes, air conditioning, tilt steering column, AM-FM radio with rear speaker, digital clock, sport mirrors with driver side remote control, Soft Ray tinted glass, front and rear bumper guards, door edge guards, bodyside molding, as well as finned wheel covers with wide whitewall tires.
The documentation on this car is extensive, starting with the original window sticker, which is still on the car, as well as the original build sheet, shipping order, registration, delivery paperwork and owner’s manual, as well as an extra set of keys. This spectacular 1975 Grand Ville Convertible is a rare opportunity to own an ultra-low mileage example of Pontiac’s final full-size convertible. It would be a great addition to a well-curated museum or private collection.
