Previously owned by actress, comedian and singer Kaye Stevens, who purportedly received this car following work on commercials for the brand, this 1971 Satellite Sebring Plus was the deluxe midsize car of the Plymouth B-Body line. Further distinguishing this example is the fact that it was optioned from new with the factory power sunroof. Under the hood is the standard powerplant for this model: a 318 CI V-8 engine. A well-refined and durable small-block under all driving conditions, it hosts a black air cleaner, cast exhaust manifolds, factory air conditioning with the associated 26-inch radiator, and a restoration battery.
This is backed by the standard Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic transmission, with other options including both power steering and power brakes. The sleek body lines are defined with Curious Yellow Hi-Impact paint, a white top, the blacked-out grille and dual body-color sport mirrors. Other appointments include lower rocker bright trim, fender-mounted turn signal indicators, chrome bumpers and a set of road wheels. The white bucket seat interior features a six-way driver’s seat, center console with T-handle Slap Stik shifter, power windows and the premium R36 AM/FM radio with console-mounted cassette player.
Décor includes the wood-grain applique, Rallye dash layout, soft-grip Tuff Wheel steering wheel and sunshine from the rare roof opening. Provenance for this car includes a broadcast sheet. The Sebring Plus lasted only from 1971-72, and it’s not often that one becomes available. Adding to that mystique is this car’s ownership history and heavily optioned packaging, making the word “Plus” truly telling.
