In the aftermath of the Second World War, the car industry was in ruins, and the manufacturer from Sochaux was looking for a model that could replace the 402 while competing with Citroën's Traction 15-Six. After a few months of studies, the 203, the only model in the Peugeot car range until 1955, was presented to the public. To satisfy demand, several versions were produced on this basis: from the 4-door saloon to the family estate, not forgetting the coupé, cabriolet and panel van. In all, almost 700,000 units of all versions of the 203 were produced, making this car a real commercial success. The example we are presenting is one of the 2,567 203 convertibles produced.
According to the information in the possession of the current owner, this example was restored almost ten years ago in the Nièvre region of France by an establishment specialising in the Lion marque. Since then, the car has been meticulously maintained and used by this collector, a Peugeot 203 fanatic who has dreamed of buying such a car since he was a child! Today, the car is in good overall condition, the bodywork has no major defects, and the paintwork is quite attractive despite being thicker than average. Mechanically, the car is in good condition, the current owner having taken care to maintain it regularly and meticulously.
