Delivered new through George Sterne's dealership in Sidney, British Columbia, this beautiful 1959 four-place Morgan Plus-4 roadster has lived a pampered life and is now ready to move on to a new home.
A previous owner acquired the car in disassembled form in 2015, and began a full cosmetic and mechanical restoration. Refurbishment of the Triumph engine is said to have included installation of new pistons and wet-sleeve cylinders, rod and main bearings, copper head gasket, a new distributor and coil, a heavy-duty water pump, a wiring harness, a single-wire alternator, modern fuse panel, an electric fan, and a new flywheel ring gear. The crankshaft was polished. The transmission was reportedly re-sealed. A PerTronix ignition was installed, along with a finned alloy valve cover. The brakes, radiator, starter, and both carburetors were overhauled.
After full disassembly and replacement of some body framing and metal panels, the body was re-sprayed in Milano Red, and full fresh interior in black leatherette installed. This very desirable Morgan features new wood floors, wire wheels, rear AVO shocks, stainless brake lines, a Brooklands steering wheel, a correct top, tonneau, and side curtains.
This is surely one of the most attractive Morgan Plus-Fours we have seen in many years, and any fan of British sports cars should jump at this opportunity.
