Delivered new in Germany in 1985, this Mercedes 500 SL (European version) was then exported to the United States and sold to a collector in Michigan. During its American life, it was serviced regularly (as evidenced by invoices in the file), before returning to Europe in 2017 in the hands of its current owner. Wanting to take the road with complete peace of mind, the latter entrusted the car to the DSA garage (official Mercedes specialist located on Avenue Foch in Paris) who then carried out numerous works for a total of around €30,000, which included the engine, brakes lighting, running gear, steering, heating/air conditioning system and tyres. Invoice details can be found in the file.

The car is equipped with many original options, such as air conditioning, heated seats, fog lights, central armrest, rear bench seat as well as a hard top (a must in winter) and including its storage trolley. The odometer, probably changed when it arrived in the US, displays 123,000 miles (198,000 km) however, the car is in a very well-preserved condition which really shows the care it was given throughout its existence. This model is the most completed version of the Mercedes R107 launched in 1971, as a 350 SL variant.

It has had many variations, but the 5-litre V8 engine that is fitted on the current 500 SL is able to deliver generous power and torque, combined with equipment and manufacturing quality, highly typical of the German manufacturer’s reputation. This car will therefore appeal to enthusiasts who enjoy sunny drives or long-distance road trips in the comfort of a luxury convertible, as powerful as it is resilient. Please note that in order to validate the car's Technical Inspection, the entire exhaust system will be completely overhauled at the seller's expense immediately after the sale by the DSA garage that usually services the car.
