When the ultimate in off-road prowess is required, the Mercedes-Benz G63 6×6 is virtually unstoppable. Originally developed by Mercedes-Benz for the Australian Army in 2007, the 6×6 became quite the phenomenal vehicle to have outside of the military. Celebrities and captains of industry alike were romanced by the extreme capabilities and ultra-luxe aptitudes of the 6×6 and bought accordingly. But they were hugely exclusive—in fact, it’s been said that Mercedes-Benz began denying orders simply to protect the exclusivity of those 6x6s that had already been built.
Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, was contracted to build the 6x6s for Mercedes-Benz, and between 2013 and 2015, just over 100 were built. The rarest of the rare would be the right hand-drive versions built for the Naza World company in Malaysia. Only 15 were made, and they are the only factory-produced RHD versions in the world. The price for each was 698,888 euros. More than just a fashion statement though, the engineering behind the 6×6 was absolutely landmark. Adopting not only the robustness of the classic G-Wagen, but blending it with the demands of military vehicles, the massive vehicles offer speed and agility and a virtually unstoppable nature rarely seen in the civilian market.
This 2014 G63 6×6 has been upgraded by Brabus, famous for tuning Mercedes-Benz vehicles to the nth degree. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.5L V-8 engine and an automatic transmission with paddle shift controls, the engine is good for 700 HP and 708 lb-ft of torque. The 6×6 chassis features five lockable differentials and three axles completely controlled by three switches on the dashboard. Interestingly, power can be split 30:40:30 between the three axles, ensuring optimal grip. Finished in Designo Mystic white with a two-tone porcelain over black leather interior with quilted stitching throughout, individual bucket seats and a rear compartment create a unique experience.
Details abound inside and out, ranging from the finish on the wheels to the silver-tone carbon fiber interior trim. Tunes are courtesy of a Harmon Kardon surround sound system. Converted at Brabus in Bottrop, Germany, it was shipped to Los Angeles and fitted with a Brabus-tuned ECU, Brabus Gold heat reflection sheeting on the intakes, high-performance catalysts with 75mm downpipes and a stainless-steel exhaust system with butterfly valves to control the sound of the twin pipes. Finding a 6×6 is difficult, but finding a one-of-one like this one for sale is truly a remarkable opportunity.
