The CL65 AMG represents a marriage between Satan, AMG and Jeremy Clarkson. It is a beautifully packaged and ridiculous collection of power, sumptuous comfort and noise but to understand this car fully, it is important to acquaint oneself with a fact or two. According to the UK sales figures, just 35-40 CL65s were officially sold in Great Britain between 2004 and 2005 and, in fact, only 777 were produced worldwide with only pre-existing customers invited to purchase. It houses the same engine as the Maybach 57 and 62 'S' models, it is also the same layout as fitted to the Pagani Huayra supercar and that is very shouty indeed.

There is 1,000nm of torque produced from the engine, detuned from 1,200nm in order to protect the gearbox. It pushes out 603bhp and on release in Germany it cost €204,000 or £142,453.20 in this country.

This very clean example is offered with full Mercedes-Benz service history (bar two) and is accompanied by a comprehensive history file including documentation of maintenance and service work which includes the replacement of the active body control (ABC) pump at 42,000 miles. Due to this being an early launch model, it does not carry the 'AMG V12 Bi-Turbo' inscription on the instrument panel and the seating is finished in smooth leather rather than standard perforated material. The cappings and trim are Piano Black and we are informed the vehicle is always garaged.
