Germany's Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft captured and held the attention of an entire generation, with high-tech touring cars driven by household names banging wheels all over Germany. In 1993 the DTM series moved away from the FIA's production-based Group A rules, giving manufacturers a freedom limited only by budget. Reigning champions Mercedes-Benz fielded what was visually the new W202 C-Class, driven by Bernd Scnheider. But in reality, their DTM car was an updated version of the hugely successful 190E, with roadgoing architecture still evident throughout its chassis.
Alfa Romeo arrived for its debut season with the highly advanced 155 V6 TI and thoroughly dominated, starting an arms-race that caused Mercedes-Benz to develop an equally advanced C-Class for 1994, bearing little in common with the road car. This Mercedes-Benz Type C-Class DTM RS 93-0102 was supplied to its current owner by Lueg, the official Mercedes-Benz dealer in Bochum, in 2002. Without any engine or transmission, it is a showcar intended only for display purposes. It will be sold with a letter from Lueg at the time of the transaction, and without any registration title.
