The Merak shares many similarities of design with the larger Maserati Bora of the period. These are recognized as the Italian company’s two “supercars” of the era. The red with black interior example on offer is powered by a 180-cid, 186-hp DOHC V-6 engine that is connected to a five-speed manual gearbox in a mid-engine configuration. The low-profile Maserati has approximately 35,000 miles and is equipped with air conditioning, cast alloy wheels and four-wheel disc brakes. At the time of introduction, the Merak was found to have a top speed of approximately 150-mph with quite respectable times in acceleration and impressive numbers produced on the skidpad in measuring handling capability.
