Lightweight, high-performance car More than 28 000 € of invoices Eligible for many competitions French collector's registration Chassis n° 2562R The 1960's saw the appearance of more and more sports cars based on new designs. On the British side, Colin Chapman, a genius engineer, adapts the concept of the central rear engine. Thus the 46th project of the firm is a car very much ahead of its time with a steel beam chassis and a fiberglass body. It is powered by a 1,470 cc Renault 16 TX engine/transmission unit that allows the car to reach about 180 km/h, helped by a Cx of 0.29 and an overall height of barely one meter that favors an extremely low center of gravity.

The car presented in 1966 was a sport-prototype and remained relatively spartan, with fixed windows, no door handles and a stripped-down dashboard. The car will evolve in 1971 with the appearance of the Type 54 or Europa S2, which adopts sliding windows, a bolted body, a wooden dashboard and adjustable seats. However, it was still criticized for the lack of nobility of its mechanics. Lotus will remedy this with its new series: the Europa Twin Cam, Type 74. This one is equipped with a Ford engine of 1 558 cm3, two Dell'Orto twin body carburetors as well as a cylinder head with two overhead camshafts. The engine develops 105 hp and allows this little bomb to reach 200 km/h.

In 1973, the Special "Big valves" version finally appeared, the ultimate evolution with larger valves that increased power to 125 hp. Agile and generous in sensations, it knew how to conquer its public with nearly 10 000 units sold. The car we present is a Lotus Europa Twin Cam type 74 built in July 1972. It was acquired in 2012 by its current owner in order to participate in the Tour Auto. The car was then entrusted to The Workshop in the South West to be prepared accordingly. Since 2012 more than 28 000 € have been invested for its preparation and its reliability. It is now equipped with an FIA roll bar, two Weber 40 carburetors and a 5-speed gearbox.

Its extremely low weight (600 kg) and its voluntary mechanics give this car a formidable efficiency. This Europa will open the doors of many competitions while providing you with unique sensations at the wheel.
