A very early second generation Lotus Esprit on offer from from 38 years current ownership with just 50,352 miles. When first seen in concept form at the Turin Show in 1972, Giorgio Giugiaro's dart-shaped outline was breathtakingly modern. On offer here is an early production S2 from 38 years current ownership with just 50,352 miles. First registered on 11/10/1978, it retains its 1,973cc, 160bhp Lotus Type 907, four-cylinder and Citroën C35 5-speed gearbox. Early S2 features include the original 14" Speedline alloys, Rover SD1 tail lights and Marina switchgear and door handles.
Finished in black with a light tan leather and Marcasite interior similar to the JPS cars but preceeded them buy some months. Owned by a classic car garage proprietor who has maintained this very usable example including a full engine rebuild in his early ownership. More recently, the Esprit has benefited from a cambelt service and a fresh MOT ('no advisories') which is valid until June 2026. Our vendor will also supply a list of work carried out during his ownership. It's rare to find an early car that remains unrestored and unmolested.
