The Lotus Elise is a two-seat, rear-wheel drive, mid-engined roadster conceived in early 1994 and released in September 1996. It has a hand-finished fibreglass body shell atop its bonded extruded aluminium chassis that provides a rigid platform for the suspension, while keeping weight and production costs to a minimum. The roadster is capable of speeds up to 150mph. The Elise was named after Elisa, the granddaughter of Romano Artioli who was chairman of Lotus and Bugatti at the time of the car's launch. The car represented a return by Lotus to simple and lightweight sports cars after several years producing the increasingly heavy and luxurious Lotus Esprit.
Originally registered on 2nd June 2000, this Lotus has only one former keeper and has been owned by the current vendor for the last 10 years. The car has been dry stored for the last three years; however, the conscientious vendor has just spent £3,542 having the car re-commissioned by Moonwhizz Ltd in Surrey. The main nature of the work carried out included a new timing belt, battery, alternator, full service and new front and rear brake pads. An MoT test was carried out on 4th July and the car passed with no advisories. This eye-catching Elise is finished in yellow with green trim and presents in excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically.
Supplied with a V5 registration document and a history folder with invoices dating back from the original purchase in 2000; such a great, fun car for a relatively modest outlay.
