  • Among the rarest of all Zephyrs with just 302 built for 1939
  • Benefits from an exceptional older restoration
  • Winner of numerous awards including an AACA Senior and Best Junior and Senior Zephyr at the Lincoln-Zephyr Owner's Club nationals
  • Handsomely presented in Neenah Cream over brown leather

The exceedingly rare Lincoln-Zephyr convertible sedan offered here was one of just 302 built in 1939, a year the Zephyr gained new hydraulic brakes and modest styling changes, including a redesigned grille, bumpers, and doors with flanged sills to conceal the previously exposed running boards. Inside, the stylish design aesthetic continued with a clean console rising from the floor as a base for the large, multi-gauge cluster acting as an orb-like cornice. Within the large, Art Deco, scripted roundel was the speedometer, as well as gauges for temperature, fuel, oil, and battery.

A smaller clock sat below and a voltmeter, which Ford called a “battery condition indicator,” replaced the ammeter. Upholstery choices included cloth or leather and Convertible Sedans like the example offered here had new inside door panels as well as redesigned rear arm rests and seat-cushion patterns. Power came from the revolutionary 110-horsepower L-head V-12 engine, shifted through a rugged Zephyr three-speed manual transmission.

This Lincoln-Zephyr Convertible Sedan is surely among the finest and most lauded examples in existence. Finished in Neenah Cream over brown leather with a matching brown fabric convertible top, it is said to wear an older comprehensive restoration. Once restored, this car went on to become one of the most decorated Lincoln-Zephyrs in existence, with awards said to have included an Antique Automobile Club of America Senior award, Best Junior and Senior Zephyr at the Lincoln-Zephyr Owner's Club (LZOC) nationals, Best Zephyr of Show, where it was judged to 100 points, at the LZOC Dearborn nationals, the Lincoln Trophy at the Dearborn Lincoln and Continental Owner's Club nationals, and finally the Edsel Ford Trophy at LZOC Hickory nationals, where it was again judged to 100 points.

Still possessing a stunning presentation, this decorated Lincoln-Zephyr Convertible Sedan is a must-have for any blue-chip collection of prewar American automobiles.
