This custom 1988 Lincoln Town Car limousine named the "Excelerator" is powered by a 5.0-liter Ford fuel-injected V8 engine mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car was customized with a 1933 Ford grille, Mustang II front end, and full air-ride front and rear suspension with an internal air controller. It features include two flatscreen TVs and a DVD player, two stereos, front and rear climate-control system, a computerized bar with three choices of alcohol and a sink. The top is covered in full-grain tan leather. It is one of 11 hand-built by New York Custom Coach of Hollis, NY, for an entertainment-industry fleet that serviced major recording artists and film studios.
This example is one of those three and documented by a letter received from the coachbuilder. Inside, the limousine is equipped with a double privacy divider, rear TV/VCR, overhead stereo controls, glass racks, champagne holder and a computerized bar (currently non-operational). Comfort features include front and rear air conditioning and dual electrical control systems. Mechanically, the car benefits from several major updates noted in the builder's documentation: a rebuilt engine and a rebuilt transmission, updated electronic control modules and newer dual batteries. CARFAX shows mileage inconsistency on 03/26/1999.
