Mid-‘70s American personal luxury quite possibly reached its zenith with this 1976 Lincoln Continental Mark IV. Skyrocketing gasoline prices had little effect on those who demanded the utmost in appointments from the long and low Lincoln hardtop coupe, which saw substantial year-over-year sales increases from 1975 to 1977. This outstanding triple-white example with lipstick trim option is the answer to the question of what happened to that Lincoln Continental Mark IV with Landau roof and opera windows which was driven into a climate-controlled humidor and unaltered since 1976. The odometer displays 468 original miles.

Under the long hood is an impossibly clean 460 CI V-8 with 4-barrel Motorcraft carburetor backed by an imperceptibly smooth Select-Shift automatic transmission. Tilt steering features cruise control. A power moonroof opens to vast expanses of plush white leather with red accent trim, wood-grain accents and red interior appointments. The Mark IV appears in the same condition as when it was first purchased 37 years ago. The rear seat belts remain ensconced in their protective plastic coating. The ‘70s-perfect Lincoln is miraculously devoid of any sign of aging.

As a former member of the storied Jerry Capizzi Collection, the Mark IV was summoned by Lincoln-Mercury along with a 1956 Mark II, a 1969 Mark III and a 1979 Mark V as part of a heritage display in Orlando, Florida, to highlight the launch of the 1993 Lincoln Continental. The time-capsule Lincoln was a consistent winner at Lincoln COC events in the 1990s and AACA events throughout the early 2000s. The Lincoln Mark IV has been in the Hallbrook Collection since departing from the Capizzi fold in 2006 and promises to continue astounding both crowds and judges wherever it appears.

The list of awards garnered by this Lincoln is already in the dozens and can only become more numerous as time marches on.
