Slabside Lincolns have long been the subject of customization and modification, but few take it to the level of this 1961 Continental convertible. Completed in 2022, this black Lincoln is powered by a Turn Key Engines crate LS3 6.2L/495 HP V-8 engine nestled into a detailed engine compartment complete with an aluminum radiator cooled by dual electric fans. The LS is fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system with Flowmaster Super 45 mufflers, Vibrant center resonators and Flowmaster HP2 rear resonators, vintage valve covers from a Continental Mark II, and a retro-styled intake manifold with a drive-by-wire throttle body concealed under an original air cleaner that’s been adapted to fit.
A 4LE65E automatic transmission and a Currie 9-inch rear end with 3.90 gears handle the power. The chassis is set upon Diamondback Touring whitewall tires with custom 17-inch EVOD aluminum wheels replicating the original hubcaps, and is dialed in with front and rear air ride suspension systems by Murray Kustom Rods with AccuAir control, an EndoCVT tank and second ViAir compressor, and custom 13-inch CPP disc brakes all around with a Wilwood Hydroboost master cylinder topped by a custom EVOD master cylinder cover. The black and white interior spectacularly matches the exterior and is in the 1961 pattern.
Custom Daytona Black carpeting skirts the original heel pad sewn into the driver’s side, while black cloth seating inserts by SMS Fabrics offset the white leather upholstery while sustaining the overall black and white theme. The front and rear bench seats are equipped with seat heaters, and the car has been equipped with Vintage Air heating and air conditioning with controls set into a custom console below the dashboard. A black canvas soft top completes the look, but the special details that make up this Lincoln extend seemingly to infinity.
