The utilitarian Series III (and Defender that followed it) have bumped across the planet conquering trails and getting out of situations most trucks could not have gotten into in the first place. This aura has created a unique demand for Landys that retain the trucks rugged mystique while carefully uprating the machines aesthetically and mechanically for the modern era. Among the top marque specialists for the job are Ramble Rovers, whose exacting creations on the Defenders, Series, and Range Rover Classic platforms are hallmarks of what we all would have dreamed of coming from Sohilull factory.
This Series III 130 two-door was sourced from Portugal and stripped to the bare metal to be restored by Ramble Rovers. Had this been restored in the vein of their other commissions, it would have been a stellar machine – but this was taken a step further. Created as a Singular Work, the truck has been elevated from a vehicle to a rolling canvas – every square inch of the now-galvanized frame has been hand painted to reflect the unique spirit of Land Rover and Ramble Rovers outdoor heritage and global exploration. The stunning frame – revealing itself in the rear bumper and under the sills – sits beneath the carefully restored aluminum bodywork of the iconic machine.
Finished in Diamond White, it is accented with galvanized folding windscreen and hoop set along with LED headlights, taillights, and turn signals. The interior is trimmed in Camel leather with front fluted seats and center console and center facing benches the length of the bed. The top frame has been further partially wrapped in leather and supports a newly trimmed tan top with tinted plastic side curtains. The ruggedness of the original vehicle is smoothed with a leather wrapped dashpad both top and bottom, a leather wrapped steering wheel, and white accent trim where black plastic would have formerly appeared.
The floormats have been replaced with Carmel leather piped brown German square weave carpets and the vinyl door and tailgate cards have been refinished in matching tan leather.
Mechanically, the Wildlife Edition has been uprated with improved suspension, hydraulic ram power steering, a RoamerDrive SS Overdrive unit, and Black Wolf style rims shroud in massive BF Goodrich All Terrain TA KO2 tires.
Almost too stunning to get dirty, it is still a capable machine ready to attack Moab—or Indian Creek. Whether on the beach in the Hamptons, the Concours Lawn in California, or covered in mud on a grouse hunt, it is all but guaranteed to be the most stunning Land Rover around and a singular opportunity to own this amazing machine.
