A rare opportunity to acquire one of the most important early Land Rovers ever offered for public sale - a beautifully restored example. The 388th Land Rover built, completed on 13/10/1948 and first registered in West Sussex the following month, placing it among the very first examples of this landmark British design. Exceptional historical significance, being one of the earliest surviving Series I Land Rovers from the initial production run of approximately 1,500 vehicles. Correct early specification, including original fabricated bulkhead (pre-1949 pressed type), correct 4.8:1 differentials, early chassis finish and period-correct running gear.
Carefully restored to a high standard, while retaining the majority of its original components, striking an ideal balance between authenticity and presentation. Excellent structural condition, with solid chassis, original bulkhead in very good order, and suspension, axles and drivetrain reported to be in excellent condition. Running and driving, offering immediate usability or continued preservation as a historically important display vehicle. Notable provenance, having been on long-term showroom display at Chase Distillery, where it has been carefully kept and presented.
Accompanied by documentation, including V5C registration document, green continuation log book and a feature article from. Land Rover Owner. magazine, enhancing its collectability.
