Finished in Santorini Black with silver-finished Style 17 22-inch alloy wheels, this 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Autobiography SUV touts one of the longest names in the history of automotive nomenclature. But, its new-for-2014 structure and architecture coupled with either the 3.0L/340 HP supercharged V-6 or the 5.0L/510 HP supercharged V-8 made for a remarkably spirited driving experience. This one is fitted with the 5.0L/510 HP supercharged V-8, and the automatic transmission is naturally connected to a 2-speed electronic transfer box to assist the 4-wheel drive in off-road adventures.
Optioned with the Autobiography package, the Sport is very well equipped and showcases a unique blend of athleticism and luxurious amenities. The Pimento and Ebony leather interior features thickly bolstered seating with 16-way power adjustability up front, the memory package, Grand Black lacquer trim, an Ebony headliner, a heated steering wheel, a heated windscreen, an 8-inch touch screen with navigation, the Meridian signature audio pack with HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio and 3D surround sound, the rear seat entertainment package and soft door close, among other features.
Convenience features abound and are rounded out by auto-dimming exterior mirrors, which make night driving much easier on the eyes. Park assist, turning gnarly spaces into things of simplicity, and keyless entry do the painfully obvious. When Land Rover introduced the Range Rover Sport for 2004 it proved to be a glorious success. Smaller than a standard Range Rover and hosting a more palatable entry price, the vehicle blended the luxuries of the Range Rover with the practicality of the Discovery. For 2014, an all-new Sport was issued featuring unibody construction and additional aluminum components throughout to reduce weight and increase overall stiffness.
The end result was an SUV that drove much more athletically while retaining exceptionally well-thought-out utilitarian values.
