Giselle made her debut as Herbie’s love interest in the 1977 Herbie film. In the movie Giselle is owned by feisty feminist rookie racer Diane Darcy, played by Julie Sommars. Giselle immediately dislikes Herbie and his owner Jim Douglas, who is played by actor Dean Jones, as well as his mechanic Wheely Applegate, played by the popular actor Don Knotts. Believed to be the only surviving Lancia of three built for the movie, the car was repainted and sold to the general public after its film stint and used as a regular commuter.
Discovered in the early 2000s with the telltale modifications and signs identifying it as Giselle, the Lancia was fully restored to its on-screen personality complete with the original roll bar and light blue racing livery. Powered by a 1756cc engine and a manual transmission, this is as unique of a Lancia as you will find.
