Lors de la reprise de Lamborghini en 1980 par les frères Mimran, la gamme ne comporte plus que la Countach, puisque la Silhouette n'a pas rencontré le succès escompté et a été arrêtée en 1979. Il est donc urgent de lancer un modèle plus modeste, capable de s'attaquer au marché occupé de façon insolente par les Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS et Porsche 911 Turbo. Ce sera la Jalpa, qui tient son appellation d'une race de taureaux de combat espagnols dénommée Jalpa Kandachia, ainsi que d'une race mexicaine. Pour ce modèle, le constructeur décide un retour à la catégorie V8 avec le projet P118/B, issu de la Silhouette (dont le nom de code interne était P118).
Giulio Alfieri, à qui l'on doit les plus belles Maserati des années 50 à 60, a été embauché comme ingénieur en chef et reprend le V8 quatre arbres né sur l'Urraco dont il augmente la cylindrée à 3,5 litres, pour une puissance de 255 ch. Avec une boîte modifiée, ce moteur en position centrale-arrière permet à la Jalpa de passer de 0 à 100 km/h en 6 secondes, pour une vitesse de pointe de plus de 250 km/h, chiffres parfaitement à la hauteur de la concurrence.
Pour la carrosserie, le constructeur se tourne à nouveau vers Bertone, qui fait évoluer le dessin de la Silhouette avec de nouveaux passages de roue accueillant d'énormes jantes OZ de 16 pouces, et divers attributs aérodynamiques contribuant à la stabilité de la voiture. Initialement noirs, les pare-chocs et prises d'air latérales de la Jalpa sont peints couleur carrosserie à partir de 1984. Cette carrosserie comporte un toit amovible, style qui a magnifiquement réussi à la Ferrari 308 GTS. Après une présentation du prototype de la Jalpa en 1981 au Salon de Genève, la production démarre en 1982 et le modèle aide la société Nuovo Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini à remonter lentement la pente.
En 1987, les frères Mimran cède Lamborghini à Chrysler, qui met fin un an plus tard à la production de la Jalpa. Ce modèle intéressant mais mal connu aura été produit à 410 exemplaires environ, sur une durée de six ans. Immatriculé pour la première fois le 26 août 1984, l'exemplaire que nous présentons a été acheté en 2019 par son actuel propriétaire pour intégrer sa très belle collection de Lamborghini. De couleur blanche avec une sellerie en cuir rouge dans un état proche du neuf, cette Jalpa est superbe avec ses 66 607 km d'origine.

It was therefore urgent for the manufacturer to launch a more modest model, capable of aggressively entering the market which was insolently led by the Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS and the Porsche 911 Turbo. This model was the Jalpa, which took its name from a breed of Spanish fighting bulls called Jalpa Kandachia (as well as from a Mexican breed). The manufacturer decided to come back to the V8 category with the P118/B project, based on the Silhouette (internal code name P118).
Giulio Alfieri, to whom we owe the most beautiful Maserati models of the 1950s and 1960s, was hired as chief engineer and took the four-shaft V8 engine from the Urraco and increased its displacement to 3.5 litres, producing 255 hp. With a modified gearbox, this mid-rear engine enabled the Jalpa to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h, figures perfectly on par with the competition. As for the bodywork, the manufacturer entrusted it again to Bertone, who enhanced the design of the Silhouette with new wheel arches accommodating huge 16-inch OZ rims and various aerodynamic attributes which contributed to the car's stability.
Initially black, the Jalpa's bumpers and lateral air intakes were painted into the bodywork colour from 1984. This bodywork included a removable roof, a style which was greatly successful on the Ferrari 308 GTS. After a presentation of the Jalpa prototype in 1981 at the Geneva Motor Show, production began in 1982 and the model helped the Nuovo Automobili Ferrucio Lamborghini company to gradually climb up the hill. In 1987, the Mimran brothers sold Lamborghini to Chrysler, who ended the production of the Jalpa a year later. This interesting but yet little-known model was produced in approximately 410 examples over a period of six years.
This special original and very well-preserved example was delivered on August 20, 1984 to the then largest Lamborghini dealer in Switzerland, Max Bobnar (MB Sportcars) in Hägendorf (Soloturn) and was sold for the first time by Mr. Pioggia Alfredo, a large Italian style furniture store owner, on August 23rd. Approved in 1984. Exactly 30 years later in 2014, it was purchased by its current owner who has continually maintained and maintained it to add it to his fantastic Lamborghini collection. The vehicle still has the original Swiss vehicle registration document from 1983 with the first owner entry and the original service booklet with all entries and the leather folder.
In its original white color, the original Bordeaux red leather upholstery is in almost new condition and the perfect detailing This Jalpa is breathtaking with its original mileage of 66,607 km. This Lamborghini Jalpa is purchased as a full set, with the Carrello additional headlight covers, with the original spare wheel and the black leather tool bag, which is also part of the equipment on the Lamborghini Countach super sports car. This equipment alone is worth €15,000.
It is presented in excellent condition, drives fabulously and represents a fantastic opportunity to own a rare and powerful Lamborghini, not to mention its distinctive style that sets it apart from other sports cars of its time.
