When Lamborghini ceased production of its Countach, a shock was felt around the automotive world. The Countach was a legend, what would replace it? Chrysler Corporation, which owned Lamborghini at the time, wanted the company to build a car that could go 200 miles per hour, provide exceptional comfort, supreme handling and be a proud successor to the Countach. The Diablo was the answer. The name followed the Lamborghini tradition of naming cars after famous bulls and bull fighters. Diablo was a famously aggressive bull raised by the Duke of Veragua in the 19th century.

The original design was penned by Marcello Gandini in the mid-1980s, when Lamborghini was owned by the Mimran brothers of Switzerland. Gandini had not only designed the landmark Countach, but also the groundbreaking Lamborghini Miura. For the Diablo, he designed an edgy and angular car, much like the rest of the family. When Chrysler bought the company in 1987, it provided the much-needed capital to sustain not only the company, but see Diablo to fruition. Chrysler largely softened the original design of Diablo, rounding its edges and Gandini was unimpressed.

However, in the end, the Diablo did do the Lamborghini name well—it could attain 202 miles per hour, find 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds, offered adjustable seats and steering wheel, an Alpine stereo, power steering and power windows. This 1991 Diablo is presented in striking Red paint with luscious Tan interior with Red piping and has been driven just 11,800 kilometers since new. It features the dramatic, optional rear SV wing, and chrome wheels, has the original Alpine stereo system, owner's manual, two keys, tool kit, emergency parts kit, and has service records totaling over $12,000 in the last 800 miles.
