When the E-type bowed out in 1974, Jaguar produced a final run of 50 commemorative models, which today are highly prized by collectors. In a similar vein, the company celebrated the end of another memorable era in 2014 when production of the XK8 and the high performance super-charged XKR came to end. That, however, is where any comparison ends, for whereas the now coveted final 50 limited edition E-types were standard production cars distinguished by little more than commemorative plaques, the XKR Final Fifty was something more, and rarer too. With production divided equally between roadster and coupe, this exceptional 2015 Final Fifty XKR coupe is one of just 25 in the world.
If that’s not enough to set it apart, the Final Fifty is fully equipped with features and performance upgrades that were only options on the XKR, as well as many that are exclusive to this highly singular Jaguar. As the ultimate expression of the XKR, the Final Fifty’s signature louvered hood—a subtle homage to the E-type—conceals a 510 HP supercharged version of the double-overhead cam 5.0L V-8, which propels it to 60 MPH in 4.6 seconds on the way to 174 MPH.
Correspondingly, the dynamics, handling, visuals and interior are uprated with the Dynamic Pack and Performance Pack features, among which are sportier suspension, aero mods including rear diffuser and side skirts, Vortex 20-inch wheels and diamond-stitched sports seats. As you cross the threshold, the “XK Final Fifty” tread plate welcomes you into an exclusive club where the signature of much-decorated Jaguar Chief Designer Ian Callum is inscribed on the centre console.
It’s a given that this XKR Fifty Fifty is liveried in Ultmate Black with cool Ivory White leather upholstery, as all of them were, but even in the rarefied company of just 25 XKR coupes, this example is distinguished further. In fact, it’s unique, for where else will you find a Final Fifty XKR coupe with just 85 miles on the odometer.
