The XK120 was manufactured by Jaguar from 1948 to 1954, and it was designed as an entry-level sports car to be offered to the masses. It was Jaguar’s first dip back into the sports-car pool since it had produced the SS100, which ceased production in 1940. By the time the XK120 was released to the public, it was already the fastest production car ever built. It was capable of reaching 120 MPH (even faster with the windscreen removed), and it would ultimately set numerous speed records across Europe during its time in production. This particular 1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster has undergone an extensive restoration with great attention to detail and competition ambitions in mind.

The sleek vintage racer sports an eye-catching bare-aluminum body, which features full race paneling and has been prepared for vintage road racing. The XK120 was restored and race prepared by the current owner and the J. Groom Company of Berkeley, California, and it is eligible to run in the 1950-55 more than 2.0L competition category. This race-ready Jaguar XK120 comes fully outfitted with fender skirts equipped with cooling ducts, a racing windshield, roll bar and driver-side and rearview mirrors. The interior is spartan, yet it’s still very functional, along with the instrumentation, and it features lap belts, fire-retardant system and a wooden Jaguar steering wheel.

This car has an extensive vintage-racing history and has been campaigned in vintage races at Laguna Seca and Sonoma Valley Raceway, along with many other West Coast venues. The virtually spotless 3.8L engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission controlled by a console-mounted shifter. This car is a beautiful representation of one of Jaguar's most successful attempts at sports-car and race-car production, and it is a piece of auto-racing and Jaguar competition history.
