In 2012, Jaguar revealed its F-Type to the world as a spiritual successor to the fabled E-Type. Following up a sports car not only legendary for its performance but also on display in the Museum of Modern Art is a task best left to the company that created it. This 2014 Jaguar F-Type V-8 S has logged only 544 miles since it left the British Midlands manufacturing plant finished in Firesand Metallic equipped with the top-trim supercharged V-8. The most powerful F-Type in the 2014 lineup has the capability to launch from 0-60 MPH in just 3.6 seconds on the way to a 186 MPH top speed.
The 5.0L aluminum-alloy DOHC V-8 engine packs an Eaton twin-vortex supercharger for 495 HP at 6,500 RPM with a peak 460 lb-ft of torque delivered from 2,500-5,500 RPM. The engine is backed by an 8-speed ZF Quickshift automatic transmission with a center console and paddle-activated manual shift that channels power to the rear wheels through a mechanical limited-slip differential with active electronic control. The lightweight bonded-aluminum chassis features fully independent suspension with adaptive damping. Jaguar Super High Performance brakes with 15-inch vented rotors and red painted calipers slow the F-Type from speed.
The driver-focused F-Type S cockpit is upholstered in jet black leather accented with contrasting Firesand stitching. Configurable Dynamic modes allow the driver to adjust suspension damping, throttle response, steering weighting and transmission-shift behavior for a tailored motoring experience through the F1-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel. Entertainment is provided by a Meridian premium audio system, as well as an active exhaust with electronically controlled bypass valves for all the right notes. The F-Type controls the road on 20-inch black Cyclone wheels and Pirelli P-Zero ultra-high performance compound tires.
