Herbert H. Franklin was the epitome of an entrepreneur, bringing about such things as die-casting, publishing a newspaper and, of course, helping to found Franklin Automobile Company. The idea of the 4-cylinder engine was for more than just power, it also had to do with smoothing out the idle, something accomplished with the better balance of four cylinders over one or two, what the majority of the cars in those days used. Interestingly, Franklin began marketing cars that would be economical and simple, the idea being that simple, economical cars would require less maintenance and owners could just enjoy driving them, not working on them.

One innovation Franklin developed was a self-starter propelled by compressed air. The company was amazing, housing body building, engine construction and assembly in one factory. The Great Depression of 1929 took quick and severe action against the Franklin car company, and it ceased operations in 1934. During its time, about 150,000 cars were built. This particular Franklin is a 1925 Model 11-A coupe presented in blue with a brown interior and matching blue wheels surrounded with whitewall tires.
