The Shelby brand is likely most synonymous with sports and muscle cars, but it’s no stranger to pickups. In 1983, Shelby worked some magic over the Ram D150 as a prototype concept. It was fitted with a built 360 CI V-8 engine and a host of specialized modifications, as well as a custom paint scheme, but it never caught on. In the late 1980s, the Dodge Shelby Dakota pickup was introduced and turned the already capable Dakota into a much better handling and performing machine. In more recent years, Shelby has had its hands on a number of Ford pickups, creating some remarkably rare, exceedingly powerful and well-dressed machines.
Only 250 Shelby Super Baja Pickups were built, and Shelby started with the Ford F250 Lariat Ultimate 4×4 as the basis. These trucks are powered by the 6.7L Powerstroke turbo diesel V-8, which is good for 475 HP and a whopping 1,050 lb-ft of torque, with a 10-speed automatic transmission backing the mill and transmitting the power. Interestingly, Shelby’s work was bestowed entirely throughout the interior, chassis and body, leaving the engine and transmission all Ford. This Super Baja has only traveled 55 miles and is CSM 22SB0103.
Riding on black, custom, Shelby-branded, 18-inch wheels with BF Goodrich KM3 37-inch tires, a Shelby/Fox performance suspension system was installed, complete with adjustable upper control arms and custom front radius arms, a Fox 2.0 dual steering stabilizer and a BDS lift system. The body, finished in dark blue, has been treated to a host of Shelby design features such as a functional ram-air hood, exclusive Shelby Super Baja badging and a powdercoated steel front bumper with tow points, airflow vents and a 40-inch curved LED light bar.
Shelby also installed a Super Baja chase rack system with a 50-inch power actuated LED light bar, painted fender flares and a custom front grille and XL power steps with rock sliders and lights. Powdercoated exhaust tips and a spray-in bedliner round out the exterior package. Inside, Shelby designers styled carbon fiber interior accents, specialized leather upholstery with embroidered seat backs, stainless steel gauges and embroidered floor mats.
