The Ford Escort is a small family car that was manufactured from 1968 to 2004 and was produced in six different model derivatives. The fourth version of the Ford Escort was launched in March 1986, with only a small number of changes over its predecessor. Optional new features included a mechanical anti‐lock braking system (standard on RS Turbo models), a fuel computer on fuel-injected models and a heated windscreen. These changes were welcome at a time when the Escort was faced with a host of new competitors; General Motors had brought out a new version of the Vauxhall Astra 18 months earlier, shortly after Volkswagen had introduced the Mk. II Golf.

As well as an all-new interior, a new derivative of the CVH engine was introduced, along with numerous suspension tweaks to address the long-standing criticisms of the Escort's handling and ride quality. In 1988 Ford developed an electronic fuel injection system which replaced the Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system in the XR3i.

Originally registered on 22nd February 1991 this Escort RS Turbo is in excellent order throughout. The black coachwork is in great condition as is the grey velour interior. The vendor has clearly looked after this Ford well and has maintained the car as it should be. A new clutch is being fitted prior to auction and we are advised she drives with no known faults. Always recognised as a brisk performing vehicle these Escort RS Turbos are becoming highly desirable, particularly in this condition. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 21st April 2021 this vehicle is sure to create interest amongst the Ford fraternity.
